Ya Sabiran Abshir Wabashhir Man Sabar

Imam Abdallah Ibn Alawi Al-Haddad

Yā ṣābiran abshir wabashshir man ṣabar, Bi-an-naṣri wa-al-faraji al-qarībi wabi-aẓ-ẓafar

O patient one, rejoice, and give glad tidings to whoever is patient of victory, near relief and success.

Nāla aṣ-ṣabūru biṣabrihi mā yartajī, Waṣafat lahu al-ʾawqātu min baʿdi al-kadar

The patient one attains by his patience what he hopes for, and his times grow clear after turbidity.

Faṣbir ʿalā al-miḥani al-qawāṣidi wantaẓir, Farajan tadūlu bihi diwalu al-qadar

So be patient in the trials that come, and wait for relief by which the turns of destiny change.

Waʾidhā al-ḥawādithu aẓlamat watanakkarat, Faskun waʾiyyāka at-taḥarruka wa-al-ḥadhar

And when misfortunes grow dark and hostile, be still, and beware of rushing and of fear.

Inna an-nawāʾiba ka-as-saḥāʾibi tanjalī, Fī surʿatin wawujūduhā yuḍḥī khabar

Misfortunes are like clouds that clear quickly, and soon their existence is only a tale.

Waʾidhā taṭūlu iqāmatun min ḥādithin, Kānat mubashshiratan biṭūli al-muntaẓar

And if a misfortune stays a long time, it is glad tidings of the long-awaited good.

Faṣbir hadāka Allāhu ṣabra al-ʾatqiyā, Al-ʾabriyāʾi ath-thābitīna ladā al-ghiyar

So be patient, may Allah guide you, with the patience of the God-fearing, the innocent, who stand firm amid change.

Waʿlam biʾanna al-kawna maṭbūʿun ʿalā at-ta, Ghyīri wa-at-takdīri famʿin fī an-naẓar

Know that creation is stamped with change and turbidity; so look deeply.

Waghnam zamānaka rāḥatan watarawwuḥan, Wadaʿi al-humūma faʾinnahā maḥḍu aḍ-ḍarar

Make the most of your time in rest and ease, and leave worries, for they are sheer harm.

Wadkhul mayādīna at-tawakkuli wa-ar-riḍā, Washkur ʿalā mā sāʾa min ḥālin wasarr

Enter the fields of trust and contentment, and give thanks for whatever state saddens or gladdens.

Waqtad bitāji al-ʾaṣfiyā ʿalami al-hudā, Zayni al-wujūdi muḥammadin khayri al-bashar

Follow the crown of the pure ones, the banner of guidance, adornment of existence, Muhammad, best of humanity.
