Tabat Layalika wa-l-Ayyamu Ya Sah

Imam Abdallah Ibn Alawi Al-Haddad

Ṭābat layālīka wa-al-ʾayyāmu yā ṣāḥi, Faghnam baqiyyata imsāʾin waʾiṣbāḥi

May your nights and days be good, my friend; so seize what remains of evenings and mornings.

Waṣrif baqiyyata ʿumrin lā baqāʾa lahu, Fī ṭāʿati Allāhi waʿṣi al-lāʾima al-lāḥī

Spend what remains of a life that will not last in obedience to Allah, and disobey the one who blames and reproaches.

Waqbil ʿalā Allāhi rabbi al-ʿarshi khāliqinā, Mudabbiri al-ʾamri ʿan ṭawlin waʾiṣlāḥi

Turn to Allah, Lord of the Throne, our Creator, who directs every affair with bounty and goodness.

Waqaddimi al-khayra waʿmal lilmaʿādi walil, Khuldi al-muʾabbadi fī rawḥin waʾafrāḥi

Send good ahead, and work for the Return and for the everlasting eternity of rest and joy,

Wajannatin muliʾat bi-aṭ-ṭayyibāti mina al-, Quṣūri wa-al-ḥūri wa-al-ʾalbāni wa-ar-rāḥi

And a Garden filled with good things: palaces, houris, milk and wine,

Wa-al-fawzi wa-al-qurbi wa-ar-riḍwāni min malikin, Muhayminin wāḥidin lilkhayri fattāḥi

Triumph, nearness and good pleasure from a King, Guardian, One, Opener of all good,

Maʿa an-najāti mina an-nāri al-latī barazat, Lilẓẓālimīna maʿa khizyin waʾifḍāḥi

Along with salvation from the Fire that has been brought forth for the wrongdoers, with disgrace and exposure.

Fīhā al-ʿaqāribu wa-al-ḥayyātu tanhashuhum, ʿamma al-ʿadhābu liʾajsāmin waʾarwāḥi

In it scorpions and snakes bite them; the torment covers bodies and souls alike.

Aḥāṭati an-nāru min kulli al-jihāti bihim, Suḥqan lahum usarā ghammin waʾatrāḥi

The Fire surrounds them on every side; away with them, captives of grief and sorrow!

Lammā ʿaṣaw rabbahum dhā al-baṭshi askanahum, Dāra al-bawāri wamaʾwā kulli mujtāḥi

When they disobeyed their Lord, so mighty in His grip, He made them dwell in the abode of ruin, the refuge of every destroyer,

Lam yattabiʿ lirasūli Allāhi ṣafwatihi, Muḥammadi al-muṣṭafā al-ʿāqibi al-māḥī

For they did not follow the Messenger of Allah, His elect, Muhammad the Chosen, the Last, the Effacer.

ʿalayhi azkā ṣalāti Allāhi mā haṭalat, Saḥābatun aw ṣabā ghuṣnun biʾaryāḥi

Upon him be the purest blessings of Allah as long as a cloud pours down rain or a branch sways in the winds.
