Taballagh bi-l-Qalili Mina al-Qalil

Imam Abdallah Ibn Alawi Al-Haddad

Taballagh bi-al-qalīli mina al-qalīli, Wahayyi az-zāda lilssafari aṭ-ṭawīli

Make do with the least of the little, and prepare provision for the long journey.

Walā taghtarra bi-ad-dunyā wadharhā, Famā ad-dunyā bidārin lilnnazīli

Do not be deceived by the world; leave it, for the world is no home for the one who alights.

Walā taḥsab biʾannaka sawfa tabqā, Falaysa ilā baqāʾin min sabīli

Do not think that you will remain, for there is no way to remaining.

Walā taḥriṣ ʿalā al-māli al-mukhallā, Khilāfaka lilqarībi awi as-salīli

Do not be greedy for wealth that will be left behind you for a relative or a child.

Waʾanfiq minhu mahmā kāna mālun, Waqaddim minhu lilyawmi ath-thaqīli

Spend from it whatever wealth there is, and send some ahead for the heavy Day.

Wakhayru az-zādi taqwā Allāhi faʿlam, Washammir waʿdu ʿan qālin waqīli

The best provision is fear of Allah; know this, and roll up your sleeves, and turn from idle talk.

Waḥaqqu Allāhi aʿẓamu kulli ḥaqqin, Faqum bi-al-ḥaqqi lilmaliki al-jalīli

The right of Allah is the greatest of all rights; so uphold the right of the Majestic King.

Waṭāʿatuhu ghinā ad-dārayni fa-az-zam, Wafīhā al-ʿizzu lilʿabdi adh-dhalīli

Obeying Him is wealth in both worlds, so hold to it; in it is honour for the humble servant.

Wafī ʿiṣyānihi ʿārun wanārun, Wafīhi al-buʿdu maʿ khizyin wabīli

In disobeying Him is shame and Fire, and distance along with grievous disgrace.

Falā taʿṣi ilāhaka wabal aṭiʿhu, Dawāman ʿalla taḥẓā bi-al-qabūli

So do not disobey your God, but obey Him always, that you may be granted acceptance

Wabi-ar-riḍwāni min rabbin raḥīmin, ʿaẓīmi al-faḍli wahhābi al-jazīli

And good pleasure from a Merciful Lord, mighty in bounty, Giver of abundant gifts.

Waṣallā rabbunā fī kulli ḥīnin, Wasallama bi-al-ghuduwwi wabi-al-ʾaṣīli

May our Lord send blessings at every moment, and peace, in the mornings and the evenings,

ʿalā ṭaha al-bashīri bikulli khayrin, Khitāmi ar-rusli wa-al-hādī ad-dalīli

Upon Taha, bearer of glad tidings of all good, seal of the messengers, the guide and the director.
