اِلْزَمْ بَابَ رَبِّكْ

لَا يَكْثُرُ هَمُّكْمَا قُدِّرْ يَكُونْ

Lā yakthuru hammuk, Mā quddir yakūn

Do not let your worry grow; what is decreed will be.

اِلْزَمْ بَابَ رَبِّكْ وَاتْرُكْ كُلَّ دُونْوَاسْأَلْهُ السَّلَامَةْ مِنْ دَارِ الفُتُونْ

Az-zam bāba rabbik watruk kulla dūn, Wasʾalhu as-salāma min dāri al-futūn

Keep to your Lord's door and leave everything else, and ask Him for safety from the abode of trials.

لَا يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكْ فَالحَادِثْ يَهُونْاللهُ المُقَدِّرْ وَالعَالَمْ شُئُونْ

Lā yaḍīqu ṣadruk fa-al-ḥādith yahūn, Allāhu al-muqaddir wa-al-ʿālam shuʾūn

Let your breast not be constricted, for every event is easy; Allah is the One who decrees, and the world is all affairs.

فِكْرَكْ وَاخْتِيَارَكْ دَعْهُمَا وَرَاكْوَالتَّدْبِيرَ أَيْضًا وَاشْهَدْ مَنْ بَرَاكْ

Fikrak wakhtiyārak daʿhumā warāk, Wa-at-tadbīra ayḍan washhad man barāk

Leave your thinking and your choosing behind you, and your planning too, and witness the One who made you.

مَوْلَاكَ المُهَيْمِنْ إِنَّهُ يَرَاكْفَوِّضْ لُهْ أُمُورَكَ وَاحْسِنْ بِالظُّنُونْ

Mawlāka al-muhaymin innahu yarāk, Fawwiḍ luh umūraka waḥsin bi-aẓ-ẓunūn

Your Master, the Guardian, sees you; entrust your affairs to Him and think well of Him.

لَوْ وَلِمْ وَكَيْفَ قَوْلُ ذِي الحَمَقْيَعْتَرِضْ عَلَى اللَّهِ الَّذِي خَلَقْ

Law walim wakayfa qawlu dhī al-ḥamaq, Yaʿtariḍ ʿalā Allāhi al-ladhī khalaq

"If only," "why" and "how" are the words of a fool who objects to Allah, who created,

وَقَضَى وَقَدَّرْ كُلَّ شَيْءْ بِحَقّيَا قَلْبِي تَنَبَّهْ وَاتْرُكِ المُجُونْ

Waqaḍā waqaddar kulla shayʾ biḥaqq, Yā qalbī tanabbah watruki al-mujūn

And decreed and ordained everything in truth; O my heart, wake up and leave frivolity.

قَدْ ضَمِنْ تَعَالَى بِالرِّزْقِ القَوَامْفِي الكِتَابِ المُنْزَلْ نُورًا لِلْأَنَامْ

Qad ḍamin taʿālā bi-ar-rizqi al-qawām, Fī al-kitābi al-munzal nūran lilʾanām

The Exalted has guaranteed sustenance in the revealed Book, a light for mankind.

فَالرِّضَا فَرِيضَةْ وَالسَّخَطْ حَرَامْوَالقُنُوعْ رَاحَةْ وَالطَّمَعْ جُنُونْ

Fa-ar-riḍā farīḍa wa-as-sakhaṭ ḥarām, Wa-al-qunūʿ rāḥa wa-aṭ-ṭamaʿ junūn

Contentment is an obligation and resentment forbidden; being content is rest, and greed is madness.

أَنْتَ وَالخَلَائِقْ كُلُّهُمْ عَبِيدْوَالإِلَهُ فِينَا يَفْعَلْ مَا يُرِيدْ

Anta wa-al-khalāʾiq kulluhum ʿabīd, Wa-al-ʾilahu fīnā yafʿal mā yurīd

You and all creatures are servants, and God does with us whatever He wills.

هَمُّكَ وَاغْتِمَامُكْ وَيْحَكْ مَا يُفِيدْالقَضَا تَقَدَّمْ فَاغْنَمِ السُّكُونْ

Hammuka waghtimāmuk wayḥak mā yufīd, Al-qaḍā taqaddam faghnami as-sukūn

Your worry and your grief, woe to you, avail nothing; the decree has gone before, so seize stillness.

الَّذِي لِغَيْرِكْ لَنْ يَصِلْ إِلَيْكْوَالَّذِي قُسِمْ لَكْ حَاصِلٌ لَدَيْكْ

Al-ladhī lighayrik lan yaṣil ilayk, Walladhī qusim lak ḥāṣilun ladayk

What is meant for another will never reach you, and what is apportioned for you is yours.

فَاشْتَغِلْ بِرَبِّكْ وَالَّذِي عَلَيْكْفِي فَرْضِ الحَقِيقَةْ وَالشَّرْعِ المَصُونْ

Fashtaghil birabbik walladhī ʿalayk, Fī farḍi al-ḥaqīqa wa-ash-sharʿi al-maṣūn

So busy yourself with your Lord and with what is due from you in the duty of Reality and the guarded Law,

شَرْعِ المُصْطَفَى الهَادِي البَشِيرْخَتْمِ الأَنْبِيَاءِ البَدْرِ المُنِيرْ

Sharʿi al-muṣṭafā al-hādī al-bashīr, Khatmi al-ʾanbiyāʾi al-badri al-munīr

The Law of the Chosen One, the guide, the bearer of glad tidings, seal of the prophets, the radiant full moon.

صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الرَّبُّ القَدِيرْمَا رِيحُ الصَّبَا مَالَتْ بِالغُصُونْ

Ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi ar-rabbu al-qadīr, Mā rīḥu aṣ-ṣabā mālat bi-al-ghuṣūn

May Allah, the Powerful Lord, bless him as long as the east wind bends the branches.
