بُرُوقُ الغَوْرِ تَلْمَعُ فِي الدَّيَاجِي

بُرُوقُ الغَوْرِ تَلْمَعُ فِي الدَّيَاجِيفَتُذْكِرُنِي لُيَيْلَاتِ التَّنَاجِي

Burūqu al-ghawri talmaʿu fī ad-dayājī, Fatudhkirunī luyaylāti at-tanājī

The lightning of the lowlands flashes in the darkness and reminds me of the little nights of intimate converse,

وَأَيَّاماً خَلَتْ فِي طِيبِ عَيْشٍبِوَادِي الخَيْرِ مَا بَيْنَ الفِجَاجِ

Waʾayyāman khalat fī ṭībi ʿayshin, Biwādī al-khayri mā bayna al-fijāji

And days gone by in a sweet life in the Valley of Good, between the mountain passes,

وَأَصْحَاباً وَأَحْبَاباً كِرَاماًمِنَ البَيْتِ المُشَرَّفِ بِالسِّرَاجِ

Waʾaṣḥāban waʾaḥbāban kirāman, Mina al-bayti al-musharrafi bi-as-sirāji

And noble companions and beloveds from the House honoured by the Lamp,

وَغِيداً طَاهِرَاتٍ زَاهِرَاتٍبِأَسْمَارٍ تُصَانُ عَنِ اللَّجَاجِ

Waghīdan ṭāhirātin zāhirātin, Biʾasmārin tuṣānu ʿani al-lajāji

And pure, radiant young women, with night talks kept free of idle wrangling.

فَهَلْ ذَاكَ الزَّمَانُ يَعُودُ يَوْماًوَيُؤْذِنُ كُلُّ كَرْبٍ بِانْفِرَاجِ

Fahal dhāka az-zamānu yaʿūdu yawman, Wayuʾdhinu kullu karbin binfirāji

Will that time return one day, and every grief announce its relief,

فَيُصْبِحُ كُلُّ حِبٍّ فِي سُكُونٍوَيُمْسِي كُلُّ مُؤْذٍ فِي انْزِعَاجِ

Fayuṣbiḥu kullu ḥibbin fī sukūnin, Wayumsī kullu muʾdhin fī nziʿāji

So that every beloved wakes in tranquillity, and everyone who harms goes to sleep in turmoil,

بِلُطْفِ اللهِ كَشَّافِ البَلَايَاتَعَالَى لَا يُخَيِّبُ فِيهِ رَاجِي

Biluṭfi Allāhi kashshāfi al-balāyā, Taʿālā lā yukhayyibu fīhi rājī

By the gentleness of Allah, the Remover of trials? Exalted is He; none who hopes in Him is disappointed.

نُؤَمِّلُهُ وَنَرْجُوهُ دَوَاماًيُقَوِّمُ مَا هُنَاكَ مِنَ اعْوِجَاجِ

Nuʾammiluhu wanarjūhu dawāman, Yuqawwimu mā hunāka mina ʿwijāji

We place our hopes in Him and ever hope that He will straighten whatever crookedness there is,

وَيَشْمَلُنَا بِعَافِيَةٍ وَعَفْوٍفَنُضْحِي فِي سُرُورٍ وَابْتِهَاجِ

Wayashmalunā biʿāfiyatin waʿafwin, Fanuḍḥī fī surūrin wabtihāji

And envelop us in well-being and pardon, so that we wake in joy and delight,

بِبَرْكَةِ أَحْمَدٍ خَيْرِ البَرَايَاشَفِيعِ الكُلِّ يَوْمَ الاحْتِيَاجِ

Bibarkati aḥmadin khayri al-barāyā, Shafīʿi al-kulli yawma al-āḥtiyāji

By the blessing of Ahmad, the best of creation, intercessor for all on the Day of need.

عَلَيْهِ اللهُ صَلَّى كُلَّ حِينٍوَسَلَّمَ مَا لَجَا لِلَّهِ لَاجِي

ʿalayhi Allāhu ṣallā kulla ḥīnin, Wasallama mā lajā lillāhi lājī

Upon him may Allah send blessings at every moment, and peace, as long as any seeker of refuge turns to Allah.
