بِنَفْسِيَ أَفْدِي خَيْرَ مَنْ وَطِئَ الثَّرَى

بِنَفْسِيَ أَفْدِي خَيْرَ مَنْ وَطِئَ الثَّرَىنَبِيَّ الهُدَى بَحْرَ النَّدَى سَيِّدَ الوَرَى

Binafsiya afdī khayra man waṭiʾa ath-tharā, Nabiyya al-hudā baḥra an-nadā sayyida al-warā

With my soul I ransom the best of all who walked the earth, Prophet of guidance, ocean of generosity, master of mankind,

خِتَامَ النَّبِيِّينَ الكِرَامِ جَمِيعِهِمْحَبِيبَ إِلَهِ العَالَمِينَ بِلَا مِرَا

Khitāma an-nabiyyīna al-kirāmi jamīʿihim, Ḥabība ilahi al-ʿālamīna bilā mirā

Seal of all the noble prophets, beloved of the Lord of the worlds, beyond dispute.

أَمِينٌ وَمَأْمُونٌ عَلَى وَحْيِ رَبِّهِوَتَنْزِيلِهِ القُرْآنِ عِصْمَةَ مَنْ قَرَا

Amīnun wamaʾmūnun ʿalā waḥyi rabbihi, Watanzīlihi al-qurʾāni ʿiṣmata man qarā

Trustworthy and trusted with his Lord's revelation and His revealed Qur'an, the protection of whoever recites it.

أَتَاهُ أَمِينُ اللهِ جِبْرِيلُ جَهْرَةًوَكَانَ لِرَبِّ العَرْشِ يَعْبُدُ فِي حِرَا

Atāhu amīnu Allāhi jibrīlu jahratan, Wakāna lirabbi al-ʿarshi yaʿbudu fī ḥirā

Allah's trusted one, Gabriel, came to him openly, while he was worshipping the Lord of the Throne in Hira'.

وَأَسْرَى بِهِ الرَّبُّ العَظِيمُ إِلَى العُلَافَسُبْحَانَ مَنْ أَسْرَى وَبُورِكَ مِنْ سَرَى

Waʾasrā bihi ar-rabbu al-ʿaẓīmu ilā al-ʿulā, Fasubḥāna man asrā wabūrika min sarā

And the Mighty Lord took him by night to the heights; glory be to the One who took him, and blessed is the one who journeyed!

إِمَامٌ لَهُ التَّقْدِيمُ فِي كُلِّ حَضْرَةٍمُعَظَّمَةٍ مَرْفُوعَةِ القَدْرِ وَالذُّرَى

Imāmun lahu at-taqdīmu fī kulli ḥaḍratin, Muʿaẓẓamatin marfūʿati al-qadri wa-adh-dhurā

An imam given precedence in every presence, exalted, lofty in rank and summit.

خَلِيلٌ صَفِيُّ اللهِ مُخْتَارُ قُرْبِهِوَرُؤْيَتِهِ هَذَا الحَدِيثُ كَمَا جَرَى

Khalīlun ṣafiyyu Allāhi mukhtāru qurbihi, Waruʾyatihi hadhā al-ḥadīthu kamā jarā

Friend and chosen one of Allah, selected for His nearness and for seeing Him, as the hadith relates.

حَبِيبِي رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي نَزِيلُكُمْعَلَى بَابِكُمْ أَرْجُو الضِّيَافَةَ وَالقِرَى

Ḥabībī rasūla Allāhi innī nazīlukum, ʿalā bābikum arjū aḍ-ḍiyāfata wa-al-qirā

My beloved, Messenger of Allah, I am your guest, at your door, hoping for hospitality and welcome.

حَبِيبِي رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي عُبَيْدُكُمْفَقِيرٌ ضَعِيفٌ لَا أُطِيقُ تَصَبُّرَا

Ḥabībī rasūla Allāhi innī ʿubaydukum, Faqīrun ḍaʿīfun lā uṭīqu taṣabburā

My beloved, Messenger of Allah, I am your humble servant, poor and weak, unable to endure.

حَبِيبِي رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي سَلِيلُكُمْوَلِي رَحِمٌ يَدْرِي بِهَا كُلُّ مَنْ دَرَى

Ḥabībī rasūla Allāhi innī salīlukum, Walī raḥimun yadrī bihā kullu man darā

My beloved, Messenger of Allah, I am your descendant, and I have a tie of kinship known to all who know.

حَبِيبِي رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي قَصَدْتُكُمْلِكَشْفِ مُهِمٍّ فِي مَرَابِعِنَا طَرَا

Ḥabībī rasūla Allāhi innī qaṣadtukum, Likashfi muhimmin fī marābiʿinā ṭarā

My beloved, Messenger of Allah, I have come to you to lift a grave matter that has befallen our lands.

حَبِيبِي رَسُولَ اللهِ قَادَتْهُ فِرْقَةٌمُضَلِّلَةٌ لَيْسَتْ لِنُورِ الهُدَى تَرَى

Ḥabībī rasūla Allāhi qādathu firqatun, Muḍallilatun laysat linūri al-hudā tarā

My beloved, Messenger of Allah, it was brought on by a faction gone astray, which does not see the light of guidance.

حَبِيبِي رَسُولَ اللهِ كُنْ شَافِعاً لَنَاإِلَى رَبِّكَ الرَّحْمَنِ أَحْسَنِ مَنْ بَرَا

Ḥabībī rasūla Allāhi kun shāfiʿan lanā, Ilā rabbika ar-raḥmani aḥsani man barā

My beloved, Messenger of Allah, be our intercessor with your Lord, the Most Merciful, the best of creators.

فَسَلْهُ لَنَا وَادْعُهْ لَنَا أَنْ يُغِيثَنَاوَيَرْحَمَنَا إِنَّ المَعَاشَ تَكَدَّرَا

Fasalhu lanā wadʿuh lanā an yughīthanā, Wayarḥamanā inna al-maʿāsha takaddarā

Ask Him for us and pray to Him for us to rescue us and have mercy on us, for livelihood has grown troubled

بِجَدْبٍ وَقَحْطٍ قَدْ تَمَادَى وَفِتْنَةٍوَجَوْرِ وُلَاةٍ أَلْصَقَ الكُلَّ بِالعَرَا

Bijadbin waqaḥṭin qad tamādā wafitnatin, Wajawri wulātin alṣaqa al-kulla bi-al-ʿarā

With drought and famine that have long persisted, and strife, and the injustice of rulers that has stripped everyone bare.

فَسَلْهُ تَعَالَى يُبْدِلُ الجَدْبَ وَالغَلَابِخِصْبٍ وَرُخْصٍ فِي المَدَائِنِ وَالقُرَى

Fasalhu taʿālā yubdilu al-jadba wa-al-ghalā, Bikhiṣbin warukhṣin fī al-madāʾini wa-al-qurā

So ask Him, exalted is He, to replace drought and high prices with abundance and cheapness in the cities and villages,

وَيُصْلِحُ وُلَاةَ الأَمْرِ عِنْدَ فَسَادِهِمْوَيُوقِظُهُمْ لِلْعَدْلِ مِنْ سِنَةِ الكَرَى

Wayuṣliḥu wulāta al-ʾamri ʿinda fasādihim, Wayūqiẓuhum lilʿadli min sinati al-karā

To set right those in authority when they are corrupt, and wake them to justice from the slumber of sleep.

فَيَا رَبِّ يَا رَحْمَنُ شَفِّعْ نَبِيَّنَارَسُولَكَ فِينَا وَاكْفِ مَنْ جَارَ وَاجْتَرَا

Fayā rabbi yā raḥmanu shaffiʿ nabiyyanā, Rasūlaka fīnā wakfi man jāra wajtarā

O Lord, O Most Merciful, accept the intercession of our Prophet, Your Messenger, for us, and suffice us against whoever oppresses and dares.

وَلَا تُبْقِنَا يَا رَبَّنَا عُرْضَةً لَهُمْوَهَدْفَ مَرَامِي كُلِّ مَنْ خَانَ وَامْتَرَى

Walā tubqinā yā rabbanā ʿurḍatan lahum, Wahadfa marāmī kulli man khāna wamtarā

Do not leave us, our Lord, exposed to them, a target for the arrows of every traitor and doubter.

وَخُذْ بِنَوَاصِينَا إِلَى الحَقِّ وَالهُدَىوَاخْتِمْ لَنَا بِالخَيْرِ إِنْ أَزْمَعَ السُّرَى

Wakhudh binawāṣīnā ilā al-ḥaqqi wa-al-hudā, Wakhtim lanā bi-al-khayri in azmaʿa as-surā

Take us by our forelocks to truth and guidance, and seal our lives with good when the night journey is resolved upon.

فَإِنَّكَ مَوْلَانَا وَإِنَّكَ رَبُّنَاوَسَيِّدُنَا وَالقَصْدُ فِي كُلِّ مَا عَرَا

Faʾinnaka mawlānā waʾinnaka rabbunā, Wasayyidunā wa-al-qaṣdu fī kulli mā ʿarā

For You are our Master, You are our Lord, our Sovereign, and the goal in all that befalls.

وَصَلِّ عَلَى رُوحِ الحَبِيبِ مُحَمَّدٍوَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ كُلَّمَا بَارِقٌ شَرَى

Waṣalli ʿalā rūḥi al-ḥabībi muḥammadin, Wasallim wabārik kullamā bāriqun sharā

And bless the spirit of the beloved, Muhammad, and grant peace and blessing whenever lightning flashes,

مَعَ الآلِ وَالأَصْحَابِ وَالتَّابِعِينَ مَاجَرَى السَّيْلُ فِي وَادٍ وَمَا المُزْنُ أَمْطَرَا

Maʿa al-ʾāli wa-al-ʾaṣḥābi wa-at-tābiʿīna mā, Jarā as-saylu fī wādin wamā al-muznu amṭarā

With his family, Companions and followers, as long as the torrent flows in a valley and the clouds pour rain.

وَتَمَّتْ وَفَاحَ الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ خَتْمُهَاعَبِيراً وَمِسْكاً لِلْوُجُودِ مُعَطِّرَا

Watammat wafāḥa al-ḥamdu lillāhi khatmuhā, ʿabīran wamiskan lilwujūdi muʿaṭṭirā

It is complete, and the praise of Allah, its seal, spreads its fragrance, perfuming existence with ambergris and musk.
