الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الشَّهِيدِ الحَاضِرِ

الحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الشَّهِيدِ الحَاضِرِالوَاحِدِ المَلِكِ العَزِيزِ الغَافِرِ

Al-ḥamdu lillāhi ash-shahīdi al-ḥāḍiri, Al-wāḥidi al-maliki al-ʿazīzi al-ghāfiri

Praise be to Allah, the Witness, the Ever-Present, the One, the King, the Mighty, the Forgiving,

مُنْشِي البَرَايَا كُلِّهَا وَمُعِيدِهَابِالبَعْثِ فِي اليَوْمِ العَبُوسِ الآخِرِ

Munshī al-barāyā kullihā wamuʿīdihā, Bi-al-baʿthi fī al-yawmi al-ʿabūsi al-ʾākhiri

Originator of all creation and its Restorer at the resurrection on the grim, final Day,

وَمُخَلِّدِ الأَبْرَارِ فِي جَنَّاتِهِوَجِوَارِهِ فِي خَيْرِ عَيْشٍ نَاضِرِ

Wamukhallidi al-ʾabrāri fī jannātihi, Wajiwārihi fī khayri ʿayshin nāḍiri

Who makes the righteous abide forever in His Gardens and in His nearness, in the best and most radiant life,

وَمُخَلِّدِ الفُجَّارِ فِي نِيرَانِهِوَجِوَارِ إِبْلِيسَ اللَّعِينِ الخَاسِرِ

Wamukhallidi al-fujjāri fī nīrānihi, Wajiwāri iblīsa al-laʿīni al-khāsiri

And makes the wicked abide forever in His fires and in the company of Iblis, the accursed loser.

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ مِنْ عَظِيمٍ قَادِرٍمُتَصَرِّفٍ فِي أَوَائِلٍ وَأَوَاخِرِ

Subḥāna rabbika min ʿaẓīmin qādirin, Mutaṣarrifin fī awāʾilin waʾawākhiri

Glory be to your Lord, Mighty and Powerful, disposer of all things, the first and the last!

كُلُّ الخَلَائِقِ سَاجِدُونَ لِوَجْهِهِطَوْعاً وَكَرْهاً بِالأَصِيلِ وَبَاكِرِ

Kullu al-khalāʾiqi sājidūna liwajhihi, Ṭawʿan wakarhan bi-al-ʾaṣīli wabākiri

All creatures prostrate before His Face, willingly or unwillingly, in the evenings and the mornings.

مَلَأَتْ بَدَائِعُهُ الوُجُودَ وَأَشْرَقَتْأَنْوَارُهُ بِظَوَاهِرٍ وَسَرَائِرِ

Malaʾat badāʾiʿuhu al-wujūda waʾashraqat, Anwāruhu biẓawāhirin wasarāʾiri

His wonders fill existence, and His lights shine in what is outward and what is hidden.

خَصَّ الرِّجَالَ العَارِفِينَ بِقُرْبِهِوَبِأُنْسِهِ أَهْلَ المَقَامِ العَاشِرِ

Khaṣṣa ar-rijāla al-ʿārifīna biqurbihi, Wabiʾunsihi ahla al-maqāmi al-ʿāshiri

He singled out the gnostics for nearness to Him, and the people of the tenth station for intimacy with Him.

شُغِفُوا بِهِ وَاسْتَغْرَقُوا فِي ذِكْرِهِطُولَ الزَّمَانِ بِكُلِّ رُوحٍ طَائِرِ

Shughifū bihi wastaghraqū fī dhikrihi, Ṭūla az-zamāni bikulli rūḥin ṭāʾiri

They were enamoured of Him and immersed in His remembrance all their lives, with every soaring spirit,

مِثْلَ الشَّرِيفِ السَّيِّدِ الغَوْثِ الَّذِييُسْمَى إِذَا يُدْعَى بِعَبْدِ القَادِرِ

Mithla ash-sharīfi as-sayyidi al-ghawthi al-ladhī, Yusmā idhā yudʿā biʿabdi al-qādiri

Like the noble master, the Succour, who is named, when called, 'Abd al-Qadir,

وَالعَارِفِ القُطْبِ المُقَدَّمِ فِي الوَرَىشَيْخِ الشُّيُوخِ المُسْتَقِيمِ الصَّابِرِ

Wa-al-ʿārifi al-quṭbi al-muqaddami fī al-warā, Shaykhi ash-shuyūkhi al-mustaqīmi aṣ-ṣābiri

And the gnostic, the Pole, foremost among creation, shaykh of shaykhs, the upright, the patient,

وَالحُجَّةِ الغَزَّالِ أُسْتَاذِ المَلَامُحْيِي عُلُومِ الدِّينِ كَمْ مِنْ دَاثِرِ

Wa-al-ḥujjati al-ghazzāli ustādhi al-malā, Muḥyī ʿulūmi ad-dīni kam min dāthiri

And the Proof, al-Ghazali, teacher of the learned, reviver of the sciences of religion, so many of which had faded,

وَابْنِ الرِّفَاعِيِّ أَحْمَدَ الحَبْرِ الَّذِيقَدْ كَانَ كَالبَحْرِ الخِضَمِّ الزَّاخِرِ

Wabni ar-rifāʿiyyi aḥmada al-ḥabri al-ladhī, Qad kāna ka-al-baḥri al-khiḍammi az-zākhiri

And Ibn al-Rifa'i, Ahmad, the scholar who was like a vast, surging ocean.

هَذَا وَكَمْ كَمْ غَيْرُهُمْ مِنْ سَادَةٍمِمَّنْ تَصَوَّفَ فِي الزَّمَانِ الغَابِرِ

Hadhā wakam kam ghayruhum min sādatin, Mimman taṣawwafa fī az-zamāni al-ghābiri

This, and how many, many other masters among those who followed the Sufi path in ages past!

فَاللهُ يَنْفَعُنَا وَيَحْفَظُنَا بِهِمْمِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ مُخَالِفٍ وَمُنَاكِرِ

Fallāhu yanfaʿunā wayaḥfaẓunā bihim, Min sharri kulli mukhālifin wamunākiri

May Allah benefit us and protect us through them from the evil of every opponent and denier.

يَا رَبِّ وَاخْتِمْ بِاليَقِينِ وَتَوْبَةٍمَقْبُولَةٍ لِأَصَاغِرٍ وَأَكَابِرِ

Yā rabbi wakhtim bi-al-yaqīni watawbatin, Maqbūlatin liʾaṣāghirin waʾakābiri

O Lord, seal our lives with certainty and with repentance accepted, for the small and the great.

ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ مُحَمَّدٍمَا لَاحَ بَرْقٌ فِي سَحَابٍ مَاطِرِ

Thumma aṣ-ṣalātu ʿalā an-nabiyyi muḥammadin, Mā lāḥa barqun fī saḥābin māṭiri

Then blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad, as long as lightning gleams in a rain cloud,

وَالآلِ وَالصَّحْبِ الكِرَامِ وَتَابِعٍمِنْ كُلِّ صَبَّارٍ مُنِيبٍ شَاكِرِ

Wa-al-ʾāli wa-aṣ-ṣaḥbi al-kirāmi watābiʿin, Min kulli ṣabbārin munībin shākiri

And upon his noble family and Companions, and every follower, every one patient, turning to Allah, grateful.
