Udi Ya Layali ar-Rida
ʿūdī yā layālī ar-riḍā, Bi-al-ʾunsi al-ladhī qad maḍā
Return, O nights of contentment, with the intimacy that has passed.
Yā man ʿawwadūnā al-wafā, Antum ḥasbunā wakafā
O you who accustomed us to faithfulness, you are our sufficiency, and enough.
Yā ahla al-maʿrūf, Wa-aṣ-ṣafḥi al-maʾlūf
O people of kindness and familiar forgiveness,
ʿabdun bi-adh-dhunūbi ʿtaraf, ʿafā Allāhu ʿammā salaf
A servant has confessed his sins; may Allah pardon what has passed.
ʿabdun ʿankumu lam yaḥul, Wamin ṣaddikum qad yaḥull
A servant who never turned from you, yet your rejection may undo him.
Wāṣilū al-mahjūr, Wajburū al-maksūr
Grant union to the forsaken, and mend the broken,
Warḥamū shadīda al-ʾasaf, ʿafā Allāhu ʿammā salaf
And have mercy on the deeply sorrowful; may Allah pardon what has passed.
Man lī ghayrukum artajī, Waʾilā bābi man altajī
In whom besides you do I hope, and to whose door do I turn for refuge?
Mā lifāqatī, Illā sādatī
For my need there is none but my masters.
Mālī ʿankumu munṣaraf, ʿafā Allāhu ʿammā salaf
I have no turning away from you; may Allah pardon what has passed.
Tarā hal yazūlu al-jafā, Waminkum nanālu al-wafā
Will estrangement ever end, and will we receive faithfulness from you?
Kūnū lī antum, Kamā qad kuntum
Be for me as you once were;
Qūlū ʿabdanā lā takhaf, ʿafā Allāhu ʿammā salaf
Say: "Our servant, do not fear; may Allah pardon what has passed."
Mālī ghayru iḥsānikum, Famunnū bighufrānikum
I have nothing but your kindness, so grant your forgiveness
Lilʿabdi al-jānī, Jammi al-ʿiṣyāni
To the sinful servant, abundant in disobedience,
ʿalā bābikum waqaf, ʿafā Allāhu ʿammā salaf
Who stands at your door; may Allah pardon what has passed.
