Talama Ashku Gharami

Ṭālamā ashkū gharāmī yānūra al-wujūd, Waʾunādī yātihāmī yāmaʿdina al-jūd

Long have I complained of my passion, O light of existence, and I call: "O man of Tihama, O mine of generosity!"

Munyatī aqṣā marāmī aḥẓā bi-ash-shuhūd, Waʾarā bāba as-salāmi yāzākī al-judūd

My wish, my furthest aim, is to be granted witnessing, and to see the Gate of Peace, O you of pure ancestry.

Yāṭirāza al-kawni innī ʿāshiq mustahām, Mughramun wa-al-madḥu fannī yābadra at-tamām

O embroidery of creation, I am an infatuated lover, enamoured, and praise is my art, O full moon.

Iṣrifi al-ʾaʿrāḍa ʿannī aḍnānī al-gharām, Fīka qad ḥassantu ẓannī yāsāmī al-ʿuhūd

Turn away the illnesses from me, for passion has wasted me; I have thought well of you, O you of exalted pledges.

Yāsirāja al-ʾanbiyāʾi yāʿālī al-janāb, Yāʾimāma al-ʾatqiyāʾi inna qalbī dhāb

O lamp of the prophets, O you of lofty station, O imam of the God-fearing, my heart has melted.

Yakfī yānūra al-ʾahilla inna hajrī ṭāl, Sayyidī wa-al-ʿumru wallā jud bi-al-waṣli jūd

Enough, O light of the new moons, my desertion has been long; my master, life has passed; be generous with union, be generous.

Yānabiyyan qad taḥallā ḥaqqan bi-al-jamāl, Waʿalayka Allāhu ṣallā rabbī dhū al-jalāl

O Prophet truly adorned with beauty, may Allah bless you, my Lord, Possessor of Majesty.
