Salamun Ala

Lā ilaha illā Allāh lā ilaha illā Allāh, Lā ilaha illā Allāh muḥammad rasūlu Allāh

There is no god but Allah, there is no god but Allah; there is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

Salāmun ʿalā qabrin yuzāru mina al-buʿdi, Salāmun ʿalā ar-rawḍa wafīhā muḥammadi

Peace upon a grave visited from afar; peace upon the Rawda, where Muhammad lies.

Salāmun ʿalā man zāra fī al-layli rabbahu, Faballaghahu al-marghūba fī kulli maqṣadi

Peace upon the one who visited his Lord by night, who granted him what he desired in every aim.

Salāmun ʿalā man qāla lilḍḍabbi man anā, Faqāla rasūlu Allāhi anta muḥammadi

Peace upon the one who said to the lizard, "Who am I?" And it said: "The Messenger of Allah; you are Muhammad."

Salāmun ʿalā al-madfūni fī arḍi ṭaybata, Waman khaṣṣahu ar-raḥmanu bi-al-faḍli wa-al-majdi

Peace upon the one buried in the land of Tayba, whom the Most Merciful singled out for grace and glory.

Nabiyyun ḥabāhu Allāhu bi-al-ḥusni wa-al-bahā, Faṭūbā liʿabdin zāra qabra muḥammadi

A Prophet whom Allah endowed with beauty and splendour; blessed is the servant who visits the grave of Muhammad!

Ayā rākiban naḥwa al-madīnati qāṣidan, Faballigh salāmī lilḥabībi muḥammadi

O rider heading for Medina, convey my greetings to the beloved Muhammad.

Fī rawḍatihi al-ḥusnā munāya wabughyatī, Wafīhā shifā qalbī warūḥī warāḥatī

In his beautiful Rawda is my wish and my desire, and in it is the healing of my heart, my spirit and my rest.

Faʾin baʿudat ʿannī waʿazza mazāruhā, Fatimthāluhā ladayya aḥsanu ṣūrati

If it is far from me and hard to visit, its image is with me in the finest form.

Unazzihu ṭarfa al-ʿayni fī ḥusni rawḍihā, Fayaslū bihā lubbī wasirrī wamuhjatī

I let my eye roam in the beauty of its garden, and my mind, my secret and my heart find solace in it.

Fahā anā yāquṭba al-ʿawālimi kullihā, Uqabbiluhā shawqan liʾishfāʾi ʿillatī

So here I am, O pole of all the worlds, kissing it in longing to heal my illness.

Waṣalli ʿalā quṭbi al-wujūdi muḥammadin, Ṣalātan bihā tamḥū ʿannā kulla zallati

And bless the pole of existence, Muhammad, with blessings by which You erase every slip from us.
