Raqqat Aynaya Shawqan

As-salāmu ʿalayka yā rasūla Allāh, As-salāmu ʿalayka yā ḥabībī

Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah; peace be upon you, O my beloved.

Raqqat ʿaynāya shawqan, Waliṭaybata dharafat ʿishqan

My eyes grew tender with longing, and shed tears of love for Tayba.

Faʾataytu ilā ḥabībī, Fahdaʾ yā qalbu warifqan

So I came to my beloved; be calm, O heart, and gentle.

Ṣalli ʿalā muḥammad

Send blessings on Muhammad.

Qalbun bi-al-ḥaqqi taʿallaq, Wabighāri ḥirāʾa taʾallaq

A heart attached to the Truth, that shone in the cave of Hira',

Yabkī yasʾalu khāliqahu, Faʾatāhu al-waḥyu faʾashraq

Weeping, asking its Creator; then revelation came to it, and it shone.

Qraʾ qraʾ yā muḥammad

Read, read, O Muhammad!

Yā ṭaybatu jiʾtuki ṣabbā, Lirasūli Allāhi muḥibbā

O Tayba, I have come to you a lover, loving the Messenger of Allah.

Bi-ar-rawḍati sakanat rūḥī, Wajiwāra al-hādī muḥammad

In the Rawda my spirit found rest, near the guide, Muhammad.
