قَدْ تَمَّمَ اللهُ مَقَاصِدْنَا

قَدْ تَمَّمَ اللهُ مَقَاصِدَنَاوَزَال عَنَّا جَمِيعُ الهَمّ

Qad tammama Allāhu maqāṣidanā, Wazāl ʿannā jamīʿu al-hamm

Allah has fulfilled our aims, and all worry has left us,

بِبَرَكَةِ النُّورِ شَافِعْنَاجُودُهْ وَفَضْلُهْ عَلَيْنَا عَمّ

Bibarakati an-nūri shāfiʿnā, Jūduh wafaḍluh ʿalaynā ʿamm

By the blessing of the light, our intercessor, whose generosity and bounty cover us.

طَابَتْ بِذِكْرِهْ مَشَارِبْنَاوَكَمْ مِنَنْ لُهْ عَلَيْنَا كَمْ

Ṭābat bidhikrih mashāribnā, Wakam minan luh ʿalaynā kam

Our drinking places have grown sweet with his remembrance, and how many favours he has upon us, how many!

وَكَمْ تَفَضَّلْ وَكَمْ أَغْنَىوَكَمْ تَكَرَّمْ وَكَمْ أَنْعَمْ

Wakam tafaḍḍal wakam aghnā, Wakam takarram wakam anʿam

How often he has been gracious, how often enriched, how often been generous, how often bestowed!

ذَا وَعْدُ جَانَا بِلَاسَهْنَاسُبْحَانَ مَوْلَايَ مَنْ أَلْهَمْ

Dhā waʿdu jānā bilāsahnā, Subḥāna mawlāya man alham

This is a promise that came to us unawares; glory be to my Master, who inspired it!

مَبْنَى الهَوَى عِنْدَنَا مَبْنَىبِالشَّانِ دَاخِلُهْ أَنْ يَسْلَمْ

Mabnā al-hawā ʿindanā mabnā, Bi-ash-shāni dākhiluh an yaslam

The building of love with us is a building whose enterer, by its nature, is safe.

وَلُهْ حَقِيقَةْ وَلُهْ مَعْنَىقَلِيلٌ تَلْحَقْهُ مَنْ تَرْجَمْ

Waluh ḥaqīqa waluh maʿnā, Qalīlun talḥaqhu man tarjam

It has a reality and a meaning rarely reached by those who try to express it.

لَيْلَةْ صَفَا قَدْ صَفَتْ مَعْنَاوَنُورُهَا بَيْنَنَا يُقْسَمْ

Layla ṣafā qad ṣafat maʿnā, Wanūruhā baynanā yuqsam

A night of purity has been pure with us, and its light is shared among us.

وَضَرْبَةُ الطَّبْلِ تُطْرِبْنَاوَرَاجِيَ اللهِ مَا يُحْرَمْ

Waḍarbatu aṭ-ṭabli tuṭribnā, Warājiya Allāhi mā yuḥram

The beat of the drum moves us to rapture, and whoever hopes in Allah is not deprived.

حَاشَا إِلَهِي يُخَيِّبْنَاوَلُهْ مَوَاهِبْ عَلَيْنَا جَمّ

Ḥāshā ilahī yukhayyibnā, Waluh mawāhib ʿalaynā jamm

Far be it from my God to disappoint us, when He has abundant gifts for us.

حُسْنُ الرَّجَا فِيهِ قَائِدْنَالِلْخَيْرِ فِي ذِهْ كَذَا فِي ثَمّ

Ḥusnu ar-rajā fīhi qāʾidnā, Lilkhayri fī dhih kadhā fī thamm

Good hope in Him is our leader to good, in this world and in the next.

عَسَى بِفَضْلِه يُعَامِلْنَامِنَ العَطَبْ وَالغَضَبْ نَسْلَمْ

ʿasā bifaḍlih yuʿāmilnā, Mina al-ʿaṭab wa-al-ghaḍab naslam

Perhaps by His bounty He will deal with us, so that we are safe from ruin and anger,

فِي جَنَّةِ الخُلْدِ يُدْخِلْنَامَعَ النَّبِي المُصْطَفَى الأَكْرَمْ

Fī jannati al-khuldi yudkhilnā, Maʿa an-nabī al-muṣṭafā al-ʾakram

And admit us into the Garden of Eternity with the Prophet, the Chosen, the most noble,

وَعَاقِبَتْنَا تَقَعْ حُسْنَىفِي حِينْ مَا عُمْرُنَا يُخْتَمْ

Waʿāqibatnā taqaʿ ḥusnā, Fī ḥīn mā ʿumrunā yukhtam

And our end will turn out good at the time our life is sealed.

صَلُّوا عَلَى مَنْ بِهِ سُدْنَاعَلَى فَصِيحٍ كَذَا أَعْجَمْ

Ṣallū ʿalā man bihi sudnā, ʿalā faṣīḥin kadhā aʿjam

Send blessings on the one through whom we became masters over the eloquent and the inarticulate alike,

مَا حَرَّكَ الطَّبْلَ مَنْ غَنَّىوَنَاحَ بِالصَّوْتْ وَتَرَنَّمْ

Mā ḥarraka aṭ-ṭabla man ghannā, Wanāḥa bi-aṣ-ṣawt watarannam

As long as a singer stirs the drum, and moans with his voice and chants.
