Qad Bada Ilayya Nuruha Ashia

Qad badā ilayya, Nūruhā ʿashiyyā

Its light appeared to me in the evening:

Asmāʾun jalīla, Kam shafat ʿalīlā

Majestic names, how many sick they have healed!

Amsā qatīlan fī al-hawā waqaḍā al-maniyya

He fell slain in love and met his death.

Ṣāḥi lā talumnī, Madḥu an-nabī fannī

My friend, do not blame me: praising the Prophet is my art.

Khamriya wadannī min ṭilā thaghrihā ad-durriyya

My wine and my jar are from the nectar of her pearly mouth.

Ṣallā dhū al-jalāli, ʿalā an-nabī al-ghālī

May the Majestic One send blessings upon the precious Prophet,

Thumma al-ʾāli dhawī al-ʿulā aṣ-ṣaḥbi wa-adh-dhurriyya

Then upon his family of lofty rank, his Companions and his descendants.
