بِي وَجْدٌ لَا يَدْرِيهِ

صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدْصَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ

Ṣallā Allāhu ʿalā muḥammad, Ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wasallam

May Allah bless Muhammad; may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

بِي وَجْدٌ لَا يَدْرِيهِإِلَّا مَنْ يَسْكُنُ فِيهِ

Bī wajdun lā yadrīhi, Illā man yaskunu fīhi

I have an ecstasy known only to one who dwells within it.

أُبْدِيهِ أَوْ أُخْفِيهِهُوَ مِلْكُ رَسُولِ اللّٰهْ

Ubdīhi aw ukhfīhi, Huwa milku rasūli Allāh

Whether I reveal it or hide it, it belongs to the Messenger of Allah.

يَا أَهْلَ وِدَادِي خُذُونِيعِنْدَ الحَبِيبِي دَعُونِي

Yā ahla widādī khudhūnī, ʿinda al-ḥabībī daʿūnī

O people of my love, take me; leave me with my beloved,

سِيبُونِي وَلَا تَرِدُّونِيفِي رَوْضِ رَسُولِ اللّٰهْ

Sībūnī walā tariddūnī, Fī rawḍi rasūli Allāh

Let me be, and do not take me back from the garden of the Messenger of Allah.

وَعَلَى الكَثِيبِ أُنَادِيهَاكُمُ يَا أَحْبَابِي

Waʿalā al-kathībi unādī, Hākumu yā aḥbābī

And on the dune I call out: "Here, O my beloveds,

فِي بَطْنِ ذَاكَ الوَادِيقَدْ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللّٰهْ

Fī baṭni dhāka al-wādī, Qad qāma rasūlu Allāh

In the depths of that valley the Messenger of Allah has risen."

قَدْ طَالَ شَوْقِي إِلَيْهِوَالنُّورُ فِي عَيْنَيْهِ

Qad ṭāla shawqī ilayhi, Wa-an-nūru fī ʿaynayhi

My longing for him has grown long, and the light is in his eyes,

وَالسِّرُّ طَارَ إِلَيْهِشَوْقًا لِرَسُولِ اللّٰهْ

Wa-as-sirru ṭāra ilayhi, Shawqan lirasūli Allāh

And my secret has flown to him, longing for the Messenger of Allah.

وَمَدَحْتُ بِطَيْبَةَ طَهَوَدَعَوْتُ بِطَهَ اللّٰهَ

Wamadaḥtu biṭaybata ṭaha, Wadaʿawtu biṭaha Allāha

I praised Taha in Tayba, and called on Allah through Taha

أَنْ يَحْشُرَنِي أَوَّاهَابِلِوَاءِ رَسُولِ اللّٰهْ

An yaḥshuranī awwāhā, Biliwāʾi rasūli Allāh

To raise me, tender-hearted, beneath the banner of the Messenger of Allah.

فَشَكَوْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذُنُوبِيفَاسْتَغْفَرَ لِي مَحْبُوبِي

Fashakawtu ilayhi dhunūbī, Fastaghfara lī maḥbūbī

I complained to him of my sins, and my beloved sought forgiveness for me,

وَرَجَعْتُ بِغَيْرِ عُيُوبٍمِنْ عِنْدِ رَسُولِ اللّٰهْ

Warajaʿtu bighayri ʿuyūbin, Min ʿindi rasūli Allāh

And I returned without faults from the Messenger of Allah.

وَهُنَاكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَاوَالرُّوحُ بِطَهَ تَحْيَا

Wahunāka amūtu waʾaḥyā, Wa-ar-rūḥu biṭaha taḥyā

There I die and come to life, and the spirit lives through Taha;

فَأَكَادُ أُنَاجِي الوَحْيَفِي رَوْضِ رَسُولِ اللّٰهْ

Faʾakādu unājī al-waḥya, Fī rawḍi rasūli Allāh

I almost converse with revelation in the garden of the Messenger of Allah.

فَشَعَرْنَا بِهِ يَسْمَعُنَالَمْ يَكَدِ الكَوْنُ يَسَعُنَا

Fashaʿarnā bihi yasmaʿunā, Lam yakadi al-kawnu yasaʿunā

We felt that he hears us; creation could scarcely contain us.

رَبَّاهُ بِهِ فَاجْمَعْنَاعَلَى حَوْضِ رَسُولِ اللّٰهْ

Rabbāhu bihi fajmaʿnā, ʿalā ḥawḍi rasūli Allāh

O Lord, through him gather us at the Basin of the Messenger of Allah.

سَلَامِي عَلَى طَهَ سَلَامِي عَلَى يَسسَلَامِي عَلَى الْمَمْدُوحِ فِي نُونِ وَالْقَلَمْ

Salāmī ʿalā ṭaha salāmī ʿalā yas, Salāmī ʿalā al-mamdūḥi fī nūni wa-al-qalam

My peace upon Taha, my peace upon Yasin, my peace upon the one praised in "Nun, by the Pen";

سَلَامِي عَلَى مَنْ سَارَ لَيْلًا إِلَى الْعُلَاوَكَانَ لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ مِنْ أَفْضَلِ الْخَدَمْ

Salāmī ʿalā man sāra laylan ilā al-ʿulā, Wakāna lahu jibrīlu min afḍali al-khadam

My peace upon the one who journeyed by night to the heights, with Gabriel as the best of his servants;

سَلَامِي عَلَى مَنْ قَالَ لِلنَّاقَةِ اشْهَدِيبِأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ قَالَتْ لَهُ نَعَمْ

Salāmī ʿalā man qāla lilnnāqati shhadī, Biʾannī rasūlu Allāhi qālat lahu naʿam

My peace upon the one who said to the she-camel: "Bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah," and she said to him: "Yes";

سَلَامِي عَلَى مَنْ قَالَ لِلْبَدْرِ فِي السَّمَاأَلَا فَانْقَسِمْ نِصْفَيْنِ يَا بَدْرُ فَانْقَسَمْ

Salāmī ʿalā man qāla lilbadri fī as-samā, Alā fanqasim niṣfayni yā badru fanqasam

My peace upon the one who said to the full moon in the sky: "Split in two, O full moon," and it split;

سَلَامِي عَلَى مَنْ قَالَ لِلضَّبِّ مَنْ أَنَافَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ أُرْسِلْتَ لِلْأُمَمْ

Salāmī ʿalā man qāla lilḍḍabbi man anā, Faqāla rasūlu Allāhi ursilta lilʾumam

My peace upon the one who said to the lizard: "Who am I?" And it said: "The Messenger of Allah, sent to the nations";

سَلَامِي عَلَى مَنْ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ أُمَّتِيأَجِرْهَا مِنَ النِّيرَانِ قَالَ لَهُ نَعَمْ

Salāmī ʿalā man qāla yā rabbi ummatī, Ajirhā mina an-nīrāni qāla lahu naʿam

My peace upon the one who said: "O Lord, my community, protect it from the fires," and He said to him: "Yes."
