Badir Laqad Fatatka al-Ghana'im

Bādir laqad fātatka al-ghanāʾim, Taqāsamūhā waʾanta nāʾim

Hurry! The spoils have passed you by; they divided them while you slept.

Walaw raʾayta al-ladhīna fāzū, Nuḥta kamā nāḥati al-ḥamāʾim

Had you seen those who triumphed, you would have moaned as the doves moan.

In rumta allā takūna nādim, Qum liḥabībi al-qulūbi lāzim

If you wish not to be regretful, rise and keep close to the beloved of hearts.

Walāzimi al-bāba yā muʿannā, Inna as-saʿīda al-ladhī yulāzim

Keep to the door, O suffering one, for the happy one is he who keeps close.

Man lāzama al-bāba nāla qurbā, Wafāza bi-al-ʾajri wa-al-ghanāʾim

Whoever keeps to the door attains nearness, and wins the reward and the spoils.

Walā tanam sāʿata at-tajallī, Falaysa yaḥẓā bi-al-ʾajri nāʾim

Do not sleep in the hour of manifestation, for the sleeper wins no reward.

Qad jaraḥat qalbiya al-khaṭāyā, Walastu alqā lahā marāhim

Sins have wounded my heart, and I find no balm for them

Siwā ar-riḍā minka yā ilahī, Yā wāsiʿa al-jūdi wa-al-makārim

But Your good pleasure, O my God, O You of vast generosity and noble gifts.

Waqad tawassalnā yā ilahī, Bisayyidi al-ʿarabi wa-al-ʾaʿājim

We have sought Your nearness, O my God, through the master of Arabs and non-Arabs,
