Alfin Salla Allah Ala Zayni al-Wujud

Alfin ṣallā Allāh ʿalā zayni al-wujūd, Man sakan ṭayba wakhayyam fī zarūd

A thousand blessings of Allah upon the adornment of existence, who dwelt in Tayba and pitched his tent at Zarud.

Yā budūra al-ḥayyi yā rabʿa al-kirām, Ballighū ẓabya al-ḥimā minnī as-salām

O full moons of the encampment, O dwelling of the noble, convey my greetings to the gazelle of the sanctuary.

In tahattaknā ʿalaykum lā nulām, Ghalaba al-wajdu ʿalaynā wa-al-gharām

If we have lost all restraint over you, we are not to blame; ecstasy and passion have overcome us.

Lā yanāmu al-layla ʿāshiq mustahām, Innamā an-nawmu ʿalā al-ʿāshiq ḥarām

The infatuated lover does not sleep at night; sleep is forbidden to the lover.

Sādatī in lam taḥinnū bi-al-liqā, Mittu wajdan falakum ṭūlu al-baqāʾ

My masters, if you do not grant the kindness of meeting, I will die of ecstasy; and may you live long.

Anā in lam ahwā ghizlāna an-naqāʾ, Ayyu farqin bayna qalbī wa-al-jamād

If I did not love the gazelles of al-Naqa, what difference would there be between my heart and stone?

ʾānasa Allāhu bikum awqātanā, Wasaqā wādīkumu fayḍa al-ghamām

May Allah grant our times intimacy through you, and may the overflowing clouds water your valley.
